Seminar: Sports Tourism in Japan ~International Joint Research at Wakayama University~
公開日 2016.06.07
Sport tourism has been attracting attention as one of tourism research fields in Japan since mega sport events including the Rugby World Cup, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Kansai World Masters Games have been scheduled to be held in Japan in the next five or six years. These mega events will not only help the host countries be known as tourist destinations, but also develop community attachment.
In this seminar, Prof Hinch and Prof Walker will first give an overview of the CTR Sport Tourism research unit and then will discuss the current situation and trends on this research field in Japan. They will also introduce Kumano Kodo, a World Heritage in Wakayama, as a case study of the research project on community attachment.
This seminar contributes to an understanding of concept of sport tourism in depth and provision of further insight into this field in Japan.
