A wide range of successful cases and challenges around the world were reported in the sessions. Many presentations related to big data were delivered along with other themes such as environmental conservation, employment and social progress.

During the closing ceremony on the third day of the conference, the Manila Call for Action on Measuring Sustainable Tourism was adopted as a mutually agreed goal to drive sustainable tourism forward with a wise use of statistical data. A preliminary draft of the Statistical Framework for Measuring Sustainable Tourism was also released. This is a great milestone of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development (IYSTD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
