公開日 2024.10.17
The Malaysia-Japan Visionaries Conference (MJVC) 2024 was held from 14th to 16th September at the University of Tokyo, Japan. Our CTR researcher, Associate Professor Husna Zainal Abidin (Faculty of Tourism), was part of the organizing committee for this international conference and also took on the roles of emcee and session moderator throughout the event.
Two CTR researchers from Wakayama University presented their research at the conference: Project Assistant Professor Yurika Shibamoto (Faculty of Tourism) and Associate Professor Husna Zainal Abidin.
Project Assistant Professor Shibamoto delivered an oral presentation titled, “Exploring intercultural competency in tourism curriculum development: The impact of Malaysian students in Japan”. Her presentation focused on cultivating cross-cultural understanding within the tourism education curriculum, using the Global Program of the Faculty of Tourism at Wakayama University as a case study.
Assoc. Prof. Zainal Abidin delivered a poster presentation titled “Exploring Preferable Climate Futures for Tourism Development: A Local Host Perspective from Japan and Malaysia.” This research, done in collaboration with CTR Visiting Fellow Dr. Aarni Tuomi, presented a cross-country comparison of older adults' perspectives on the future sustainable development of their destinations. Their study was supported by the CTR Short-Term Visiting Fellow Program and partially funded by the CTR Joint Research Support Program. Also, Assoc. Prof. Zainal Abidin was the winner of the "Fly Home with Us!" Lucky Draw. This lucky draw aimed to support researchers working in areas that strengthen the Malaysia-Japan relationship, either in research or industrial settings.
