Project summary
There is a need to manage Japan's regional area as sustainable tourism destinations for inbound travellers. At this moment, they would not visit Japan, it is still important to attract them to the regional area and expectations for tourism video are rising. Although Japanese budgets for tourism films are increasing, there is a lack of verification of how the films actually contribute to a sustainable local ecosystem. In other countries, the role of tourism films in local tourism ecosystems is becoming an important subject of research. In this research, we will study the ecosystem based on tourism films, and the role of tourism films.
Activity report(2021/5/19~2022/3/31)
This study considers the implementation of destination management and eco-systems, with tourism film as its core. This research is not just an academic study, but rather a practical study to solve pressing issues in today's tourism areas. This year, we attempted to participate in a municipal tourism film project in collaboration with several companies. As a result, we could not win the competition, but our vision of tourism film is becoming clearer through our involvement in practical work. We made a presentation about them at an international symposium. In addition, we held Japan World's Tourism Fim Festival on Yoron Island. We awarded excellent films and tourism film was discussed from various perspectives.
Activity report(2022/4/1~2023/3/31)
We held the 5th edition of Japan World's Tourism Film Festival from March 14 to 16, 2023, in Manohama beach, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, as the main venue. Press releases and outreach activities were conducted around the holding of this film festival. We were also able to invite guests from abroad to the festival this year, and as a result, we were able to produce an extensive study tours (already filmed) and tourism films by foreign creators. The festival itself was also a great step forward in the field of tourism films in Japan. The festival itself attracted worldwide attention, with the participation of the Consul General of Indonesia, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Japan, and the Mayor of Monção, Portugal.
